The ranch, along with the 350,000 acre Armendaris Ranch owned by America's largest land owner, Ted Turner, is part of the original Pedro Armendaris Land Grant deeded by the King of Spain in 1819.
This scenic ranch is situated at the base of the majestic Magdalena Mountains to the northwest and includes a large portion of the Chupadera Mountains to the northeast. The property ranges in elevation from 4,700 to 6,400 feet, providing for an excellent year-round climate. The ranch offers a wide diversity of terrain from gently rising meadows to rolling and terraced hills to foothills and mountainsides.
Highland Springs Ranch offers many nearby opportunities for recreation. The ranch is adjacent to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge’s sandhill cranes, Arctic geese, and more than 20 species of ducks attract birdwatchers and nature lovers from all over the world. Outstanding fishing, boating and camping is available at Elephant Butte Lake just 40 minutes away. This 40-mile long lake has three marinas, 154 developed campsites and is filled with trophy striper.
